Louis Christian Mullgardt Home
(ca. 1857)
Situated at the northwest corner of Third and Jefferson streets, this German-style
brick, built close to the street had a metal upstairs porch. Built by Moritz
Witzleben, it
was purchased by John Christian Mullgardt in 1867. His son, Louis, became a world-famous
architect. He designed the facade of the London Savoy
Hotel, the Memorial Museum in San Francisco Golden Gate Park, and buildings for the 1915
Panama-Pacific International Exposition.
